Fines for Failing to Comply

Beginning on July 1st, 2021, when a brand new or renewed tenancy is signed for a Maraenui rental property, all Healthy Homes compliance work must be completed within 90 days.

Tenancies that were signed between 1 July 2019 and the 30th June in 2021

  • Underfloor and ceiling insulation is required to all Maraenui and New Zealand rental homes where it is reasonably practicable to put in.
  • A Healthy Homes Intent to Comply Statement An Insulation Statement as well as an Insurance Statement should be included in any renewed, new or varied tenancy agreement.
  • Property managers and landlords must keep records that demonstrate the compliance with each Healthy Homes Standards that apply or will be applied during the tenure of the rental property.
